welcome!

I'm Dr. Leslie or Dr. D

a healing agent of broken hearts

I’ve been giving relationship advice since I was  thirteen.

This is when I realized my purpose as a counselor and my natural gift to empower others to navigate their way to healthy relationships.

As a child of divorce, I developed a passion to discover the ways of love and how to experience this in my own life.

Throughout my career in child welfare and as a psychotherapist working with youth involved in the juvenile justice system, I have witnessed the generational impact of toxicity in relationships including emotional dysfunction, mental illness, and trauma.

As I navigated my way through numerous toxic relationships, I became empowered to help other women, especially single moms, to learn how to develop and maintain healthy attachments in order to break free from toxicity in their relationships.

As a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) with advanced training in EFT, I am a highly trained psychotherapist with a PhD in Counseling and Psychological Studies from Regent University.

I am also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in IL and MO and a National Certified Counselor.

As a Supreme Court Approved Family and Divorce Mediator, I strive to help couples navigate their decision to separate peacefully and respectfully because divorce doesn’t have to be nasty.

I’m passionate about my life’s work and use an emotionally focused approach when working with clients. I aim to provide service with excellence and a promise to never be sugar-coated.

My mission is to empower women around the world to experience real love by developing healthy attachments and increased self-worth. I am committed to calling out the toxicity in their lives in a loving and honest manner so they can choose to walk in freedom by knowing the truth.

I'm a proud Heart Mom

My son has a rare congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Because of our journey, I was honored to provide psychotherapy to other Heart Moms for 3 years through my employment at Washington University, St. Louis.

I served as the Program Lead and Staff Therapist in the Heart Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Now I am honored to continue my service to the Heart Community as a Board Member of Ollie Hinkle Heart Foundation.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that has captured my heart and mind for its unique blend of strategy, technique, and physicality.

This is a grappling-based martial art that emphasizes ground fighting, and I love how it allows me to challenge myself both mentally and physically.

I firmly believe in the power of jiu jitsu for women who have been victims of violence.

I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

I also received the award from IAOTP for
Empowered Woman of the Year and Top 50 Fearless Leader

I love Coffee and Connections

I can’t resist the invitation to enjoy a cup of coffee and thought provoking conversation with friends. I believe in supporting the community and small businesses, especially local coffee shops.

Once you get to know me you’ll also realize my passion for criminal justice, domestic violence awareness and youth empowerment.
